ARCH Medical Solutions Grows Capabilities for Robotic-Assisted Surgery, Acquires MMi Sonora

ARCH Global Precision acquired MMi Sonora, manufacturer of high-precision components and assemblies primarily for the medical market, with expertise in precision manufacturing for robotically-assisted surgery. MMi will join the ARCH Medical Solutions Segment.

MMi’s core capabilities include high-precision complex machining, prototyping to production, testing, assembly and finishing. These competencies are highly complementary to the existing high-precision machining capabilities at ARCH Medical Solutions locations across the U.S.

“We are extremely excited to announce the acquisition of MMi, and we welcome all MMi colleagues and customers to the ARCH family of companies,” said Paul Barck, Divisional President of ARCH Medical Solutions. “This acquisition is strategically important as it demonstrates our commitment and deliberate move into the rapidly expanding robotically-assisted surgical market.

“The MMi acquisition also adds to the depth of our machining capabilities for complex, tight-tolerance machined components and devices for the surgical robotics and precision motion control hardware industries. MMi has established themselves as a critical supplier to the world’s leading manufacturers within these markets, and becoming a member of the ARCH family will provide the opportunity for us to more broadly support and serve our customers.”

Previous additions to the ARCH Medical family include Jade Precision Medical ComponentsUniversal Precision Instruments and Seabrook International. Organic growth for ARCH is supported by investments made following its acquisition by The Jordan Company in 2019.

“The timing is right for MMi to join forces with ARCH Medical Solutions, a growth-oriented strategic partner, and this move will be beneficial for our employees and our loyal customers,” said William McDonald, former co-owner of MMi. “ARCH shares the vision and core values that we live by every day at MMi, and we are looking forward to our partnership with the ARCH team.”

Steve Woodward, former co-owner of MMi, said, “This is an exciting new chapter for MMi and an opportunity for us to grow with a well-respected family of precision manufacturing companies that fully embraces the medical technology revolution.”
