VELO3D Announces Assure Quality Assurance and Control System for 3D Metal Printing

VELO3D released the VELO3D Assure™ Quality Assurance and Control System for use with Sapphire® 3D metal printers and Flow™ process software. Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, one of the largest providers of additive/3D printing and conventional manufacturing services in North America, is the first customer to implement Assure.

Assure provides substantiation of part quality needed for volume production. It detects and flags process anomalies, and highlights corrective actions required so errors are not repeated. Through real-time, multi-sensor, physics-based detection algorithms, Assure delivers traceability of part quality and flags process anomalies as soon as they occur to decrease variation and provide documentation to fast-track the validation of printed parts.

VELO3D has developed software, hardware and process controls to create SupportFree solutions for 3D metal printing, reducing the need for support structures in metal additive manufacturing. VELO’s systems have application throughout multiple industries, such as in the manufacture of medical implants like acetabular cups.

Stratasys Direct provides 3D printing and advanced manufacturing services using a range of additive and conventional technologies, in materials including titanium and cobalt chrome. The company can produce products such as custom saw and drill guides, as well as surgical instruments, medical models, etc.
