Purac Acquires Fiberlive Technology from Vivoxid

Purac Biomaterials acquired FiberLive™, Vivoxid’s composite technology comprising resorbable glass fibers and polymers. FiberLive boasts strength reportedly up to 6 times higher than cortical bone, and comparable to metal.

FiberLive technology has potential clinical application in the manufacture of plates, pins, screws, fiber-reinforced cements, bone regeneration, fiber textiles, etc.

Purac develops, manufactures and markets resorbable polymers and monomers for medical applications under the PURASORB® brand name.

In orthopaedics, PURASORB polymer materials have application in a variety of implants to treat musculoskeletal injuries in sports medicine, craniomaxillofacial, trauma and spinal surgery. PURASORB polymers are also used to develop scaffolds for tissue regeneration.

PURASORB solutions for orthopaedic and tissue regeneration scaffolds are commercially available in the company’s Polylactide, PLGA and Capro (lactide/caprolactone copolymers) platforms.
