Elos Medtech Shares Planned Succession Changes in Memphis

Elos Medtech announced succession changes in its U.S. operations that will enhance the company’s overall orthopedic strategy.

Tim Turner has been appointed to succeed Jodie Gilmore in leading Elos Medtech in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Turner has been with the company for more than 16 years and has served in a broad range of capacities with increasing leadership roles, including production operations, engineering and business development. He will take the position of Managing Director of the recently-expanded Elos Medtech U.S. operations.

Ms. Gilmore served 10 years as the Chief Executive Officer of Onyx Medical, including five as part of Elos Medtech. Ms. Gilmore will retain her role as Global Business Director, Orthopedics for Elos Medtech and continue reporting to CEO Jan Wahlström. Her focus will be on the strategic business development of the company’s orthopedic division.

Sweden-based contract manufacturer Elos Medtech acquired Onyx Medical in 2015, effectively establishing a presence in North America and expanding its global orthopedic business. Elos Medtech reported 2019 revenue of SEK 689.4 million (USD $76.9 million). Orthopedics accounts for one-third of its business.

Ms. Gilmore said that her dedicated business development focus will allow the company to advance a more global perspective and strategic approach to their orthopedic portfolio, as they aim for sustained, above-market growth.

“Our strategy for growth, market focus, and driving customer value is grounded in a strong belief in specialization. This is a concept we have been working with over the last two years. Developing our best in class offerings across all of our sites may occur organically or through complementary acquisitions that are aligned with our desired portfolio,” Ms. Gilmore said. “Either way, it takes time and energy to decide where we will invest our cash and apply human capital to derive the greatest return and achieve our long-term objectives.”

The transition of leadership responsibilities will take place throughout the second half of 2020, with Mr. Turner assuming his new role in January 2021.

“Tim has deep knowledge of our industry, our organization, our technology, our processes and our customers,” said Ms. Gilmore. “Having worked closely with Tim for so many years, it gives me great peace of mind to hand over the reins to someone so capable who also shares my passion and dedication for this company.”

Mr. Wahlström added, “We remain committed to growth and the positive transformation of our business. We are now strengthening our strategic business development focus where Jodie will take the lead. I am delighted that Tim will take on as the Managing Director for our site in Memphis.”
