Reducing Costs in the Supply Base

Can supply management be assured that the response will be the same as if the question were asked of the strategic personnel? Any changes observed by the tactical professionals need to be communicated to and discussed with the strategic people.

Addressing the above issues has to be the focal starting point before specific tools and techniques can be developed and implemented. Following this step, a methodology needs to developed including research and learning, understanding the key components of a “fair and reasonable price” and using metrics to assure that the information developed is accurate and competitive. The goal is to enable a customer/supplier to be more competitive in the future. It is important to recognize that this process is continuous and not static, particularly as the economic conditions and technologies change globally
