Red Star Contract Manufacturing Investing in Growth

Red Star Contract Manufacturing will invest $1.6 million in real estate improvements and additional equipment and will add 18 new employees by 2022, increasing from their present staff of 25. The current 17,000-square-foot facility, located minutes from Warsaw, Indiana, will grow by 12,000 square feet to reach 29,000 square feet of space.

Red Star specializes in insert injection molding and sterile packaging for the medical device industry. For orthopedic device companies, Red Star supplies instrument handles, single-use instrument sets (packed complete, labeled and sterilized) and case and tray latches.

OEM WishBone Medical acquired Red Star in late 2018 to provide sterile packaging and plastic injection molded single-use instruments for the pediatric orthopedic market.

“We expect Red Star to grow continuously as the industry demands more sterile packaging and plastic injection molding business services. We are proud of Red Star’s commitment to investing back into the community,” said Mary Wetzel, WishBone Medical’s President and COO.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Red Star up to $175,000 in conditional tax credits based on its job creation plans. The credits are performance-based, meaning that the company must hire natives of Indiana before claiming the incentives.
