Cortland Biomedical Launches Facility to Manufacture Custom Textile Structures

Cortland Biomedical, a medical textiles product development company, unveiled a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility strategically designed by textile engineers. Evolved from Cortland’s medical division, Cortland Biomedical’s team offers design services and process and validation engineering for the development of biomedical textiles that are formed by braiding, knitting and weaving, as well as custom fabrication.

Applications include braided loops to provide anchoring options for orthopedic and arthroscopic applications.

Cortland Biomedical’s engineers can develop resorbable or permanent textile solutions that contain biomaterials that are polymeric or metallic, and are used in implant or surgical applications. The company can also enable next-generation combination devices that leverage fabrics and specialty materials or synthetic structures and tissue hybrids used in load-bearing applications.
