Portescap Offering New Surgical Motors for Small Bone Applications

Portescap released three new size 9 brushless slotted surgical motors for drills, saws and reamers used in small bone orthopedic applications.

The motors are suitable for traditional surgical tools as well as robotically-assisted surgical devices, and can be paired with a Portescap sterilizable controller for battery-powered applications. They have been tested to withstand 1,000+ sterilization cycles as well as exposure to saline and other foreign materials. The 22mm motors are lightweight with low noise and vibration, maximizing tactile response and surgeon control.

Standard prototypes are available within two weeks, and the company can optimize a design to meet the specific requirements of the application.

Portescap markets a broad offering of miniature electronic motor product technologies such as brushless DC, brush DC, stepper motors and linear actuators for medical and industrial applications.
