Oxford Performance Materials Opening Japan Facility

Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) will hold the grand opening of its OPM Japan additive manufacturing and office facilities in Tokyo on Tuesday, July 16. The OPM Japan subsidiary (OPMJ) was established in May 2018 to advance OPM’s poly-ether-ketone-ketone (PEKK)-based 3D-printed orthopedic devices and biomedical/dental materials businesses throughout Asia.

OPMJ has an exclusive regional license to OPM’s OXPEKK® materials and OsteoFab® 3D printing technologies, as well as patented medical application technologies for the Asian territory.

The 6,500-square-foot headquarters was custom built for production of 3D-printed biomedical implants and distribution of biomedical polymers, and includes a materials science lab.

JSR Corporation, a materials supplier, provided a major strategic investment in OPMJ.

OPMJ will begin to introduce OsteoFab patient-specific 3D-printed craniomaxillofacial implants, to be distributed by Zimmer Biomet, and will develop a 3D-printed OsteoFab-based spinal product line into the Japanese and Asian markets.
