Avalign Technologies Acquires Integrated Medical Solutions

Avalign Technologies acquired Integrated Medical Solutions (IMS), a contract manufacturer based in Cleveland, Ohio. IMS focuses on machined metal implants for the spine, sports medicine, trauma and extremities end markets; its customer list features numerous large orthopedic companies such as Acumed, Arthrex, DePuy Synthes, Exactech, Integra LifeSciences, NuVasive, Orthofix and Zimmer Biomet.

Avalign, based in Illinois, is among the top 10 contract manufacturers serving the orthopedic industry, by ORTHOWORLD's revenue estimates. The company manufactures implants, instruments, cutting tools, German specialty instruments and cases and trays, and offers capabilities from several entities acquired since 2007: Thortex, specialist in metal injection molding, precision manufacturing and porous coating solutions for titanium and cobalt-chrome implants; Millennium, a supplier of specialty surgical instruments for orthopaedics, neurosurgery and ophthalmics; Instrumed International, a German instrument manufacturer; Advantis Medical, a sterilization case and tray manufacturer; Nemcomed, manufacturer of implants and instruments; and NG Instruments, specialist in manufacturing drills, taps and reamers.

Lee Dwyer, General Manager of IMS, said, “Integrated Medical Solutions is excited to become a part of Avalign Technologies. We founded the company in 2014 and have become a leader in medical implants that improve patient lives. Joining Avalign enables us to be part of a complete medical solutions company and allows the company to accelerate its growth as we serve customers.”

“We are excited to add IMS’s product families to our array of manufacturing capabilities,” said Forrest Whittaker, CEO of Avalign. “IMS has a reputation for manufacturing high quality spine hooks and connectors, extremities screws, and sports medicine suture buttons and anchors for medical device OEMs. This combination will bring significant value to our customers.”
