MicroPort Orthopedics Launches Evolution NitrX Medial-Pivot Knee

MicroPort Orthopedics commenced launch of the Evolution® NitrX™ Medial-Pivot Knee.

An extension of MicroPort’s EVOLUTION MP Total Knee line, the device features a titanium niobium nitride (TiNbN) coating that has been shown in simulated clinical testing to reduce the release of cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mb) and nickel (Ni) ions common in standard CoCr implants.

The TiNbN coating also reportedly lends increased hardness and wettability, enhanced wear properties, high corrosion resistance and enhanced biocompatibility.

Evolution NitrX, which gained FDA 510(k) clearance in May, builds on over 20 years of EVOLUTION’s medial-pivot legacy of 95% patient satisfaction, with 98.8% survivorship at 17 years.
