Pacific Instruments Granted U.S. Patent for Rod Bender

Pacific Instruments, contract manufacturer and procurement source of custom and off-the-shelf orthopedic instruments, was granted U.S. Patent No. 10,327,828 for a rod bender design that easily bends hard materials like cobalt chrome spinal fixation rods. The company has partnered with design consultant Loukas Medical on this instrument.

President and CEO of Pacific Instruments, Holger Gruenert, said, “This innovative rod bender will allow orthopedic surgeons to bend rods as short as 40 mm with less applied force and better control. Along with its patented rod bender, Pacific Instruments continues its growth in the orthopedic industry with a second patent pending surgical instrument design; a recent CE certification to market some of our instruments in the European Union; and an innovative instrument set for trauma in development.”
