Exactech Acquires EPIC Extremity, Trauma Device Company

Exactech acquired EPIC Extremity, designer of screw and plating systems for foot/ankle applications. Exactech has distributed the EPIC Extremity foot and ankle reconstruction system for the past year, and now has full ownership of the product line.

The system is indicated to treat great toe arthritis, fractures, hallux valgus deformities and midfoot injuries, and is delivered in a customizable, modular tray specific to disease states. EPIC also offers a separate fusion plating system for ankle arthrodesis.

EPIC Extremity was founded in 2012 to offer lowest-total-cost implants, and has received FDA 510(k) clearances for products from 2016 through 2019. The EPIC Extremity foot and ankle system complements Exactech’s Vantage® Total Ankle System to provide an expanded line of trauma and joint replacement solutions for the lower extremities.

“At the core of EPIC Extremity was a desire to provide surgeons with implant systems that offer quality patient care and service in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Dan Schwartzbauer, Founder and President of EPIC Extremity. “With Exactech’s acquisition, we feel confident that we can accomplish this mission even further, and we look forward to seeing its growth and even more patients being served.”
