Evolve Additive Solutions Growing in Rochester, NY

Minnesota-based additive manufacturing systems company, Evolve Additive Solutions, will grow its present 15-person materials technology operations in town of Brighton, Monroe County, New York. The expansion will create ~60 new jobs over the next five years.

Evolve offers Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process (STEP) additive manufacturing technology; its medical focus includes custom components, medical trials and surgical guides.

STEP can handle high-volume production runs into the hundreds of thousands per year. Evolve views STEP as a competitor to traditional manufacturing processes, like injection molding; the process combines 2D-imaging with proprietary IP to align incoming layers and employs bonding techniques to create final parts that are fully dense, with the same isotropic properties of injection molding.

Initially, the company will expand the Brighton manufacturing space by 7,000 square feet, and plans to add another 13,000 square feet over coming years.

STEP will be offered alongside traditional manufacturing processes on the production floor, such as injection molding and CNC, and will provide customers with another asset to get products to market faster.
