EPTAM Plastics Acquires Relius Medical

EPTAM Plastics, a contract manufacturer serving the orthopaedic market, has acquired Relius Medical, a contract manufacturer specializing in metal machining. (EPTAM is a portfolio company of New Heritage Capital, a private equity firm.)

The combined company is being re-branded as EPTAM Precision.

The acquisition broadens EPTAM’s core capabilities to include metal and precision machining.

“Introduced to us by a common customer, Relius is the perfect strategic addition to the EPTAM family, allowing EPTAM to offer customers a one-stop-shop for precision manufacturing solutions in both plastics and metals,” said Dana Waterman, CEO of EPTAM. “We are excited to be partnering with Relius and their team.”

Relius is ISO 13485 Certified, FDA Registered and employs ~100 people in an 89,000-square-foot facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Along with orthopaedic implants, Relius specializes in external fixation clamps.

Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Northfield, New Hampshire, EPTAM is also ISO 13485 Certified and FDA Registered. Its medical applications, available in a range of plastic materials, include implants, instruments, trays/cases and surgical tools.
