Gauthier Biomedical Receives Trade Dress for G10 Handle Line

Gauthier Biomedical announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued Trademark Registration No. 5,478,595 covering handles of the company’s G10 premium branded handle line.

The silicone-molded handle family allows OEMs to distinguish themselves by offering ergonomic, customized handles and instruments.

Gauthier Biomedical—which now has over 50 patents—manufactures instruments for spine, trauma, hip, shoulder, knee, ankle and small bone surgical applications. Gauthier Biomedical was the first to offer multicolor silicone handles, according to the company, and provides a wide range of patented technologies designed to improve surgical techniques for a global customer base. Gauthier also offers design and regulatory services, in addition to its suite of manufacturing services.

“The G10 [was] first released in 2010 to celebrate Gauthier’s 10th anniversary,” said Founder and President Michael T. Gauthier. “Its image and likeness have for years been an identifiable symbol of Gauthier Biomedical’s commitment to quality instrumentation.”

Earlier this year, Gauthier Biomedical received FDA 510(k) clearance to market its Intellitorq® electronic torque indicator, marking the first 510(k) clearance for such a device. The manual driver, called ITQ® for short, is designed to accurately indicate a preset torque value using LED lights and haptic feedback.
