Interbody Fusion Outcomes May Be Improved by Use of PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced Polymer

Early clinical results demonstrated high fusion rates at 6 months and beneficial clinical outcomes for patients in the majority of cases when PEEK-OPTIMAâ„¢ HA Enhanced is used in interbody fusion (IBF) devices. Invibio Biomaterial Solutions’ implantable polymer combines PEEK-OPTIMA and hydroxyapatite (HA), and is fully integrated.

Study results, shared at the 2016 NASS annual meeting, detailed results in lumbar spine fusion with a PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced device from Cutting Edge Spine, and in cervical interbody fusion with the Talos-C device from Meditech Spine.

Previous studies have shown that the act of enhancing bone apposition on all surfaces of an IBF device may offer better integration and improved potential for spinal fusion.
