Arcam launched Arcam Q10plus and Arcam Q20plus, a significantly enhanced generation of the Arcam Q-series EBM systems for Additive Manufacturing. With Qplus, Arcam introduces Arcam xQam™, an X-ray based function for high precision auto-calibration and improved beam control.
The Arcam Qplus-series includes features to support efficient manufacturing:
• Arcam xQam™ – an X-ray based detection system for automatic calibration and improved beam control.
• EBM Control 5.0 – an all new software platform adding functionality for more efficient and accurate beam control as well as new melt strategies, improving build speed and precision.
• New electronics – bringing more efficient and accurate beam control.
In December 2015, Arcam announced efforts to increase its business development efforts in the U.S. As part of those efforts, CEO Magnus Rene relocated to the U.S. BONEZONE spoke to Senvol, an additive manufacturing analytics firm, about when companies should explore the use of additive manufacturing. There are seven scenarios that make a product a potential fit for additive manufacturing. Those scenarios are: expensive to manufacture, long lead-times, high inventory costs, sole-sourced from suppliers, remote locations, high import/export costs and improved functionality.
