Teleflex Medical OEM added an ultra-strong, ultra-thin tape to its suture product line. Force Fiber® OrthoTape™ Braid is durable and features a low profile and broad footprint. The braid, indicated for orthopedic procedures, is designed to suit applications where tissue pull-through may be a concern.
According to tests, OrthoTape Braid is flatter than similar tapes on the market, with a 40% thinner profile. OrthoTape Braid is prepared from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with a large offering of colors and patterns, including criss-cross and tracer strands. A variety of widths is available ranging from 1mm to 5mm. Both sterile and non-sterile product can be custom-configured to meet the requirements of many applications.
Teleflex Medical OEM was granted Patent No. HK1088258 by the Hong Kong Patent Registry, covering a coreless braid design constructed of UHMWPE. This proprietary braid configuration is the key technology for the company’s Force Fiber® Suture.
Testing has indicated that Force Fiber Suture significantly outperforms polyblend suture of comparable size for straight tensile and knot tensile strength. Force Fiber suture is flexible, nonabrasive and has a silk-like feel that is gentle on tissue and gloves.
