AJRR Releases Annual Report on Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

The American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) released its 2013 Annual Report on Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Data. Established in 2009, the AJRR contains hip and knee procedures from nearly 400 hospitals and 2,000 surgeons in 48 states. The registry is increasing at a rate of 2,500 procedures per week, and presently contains more than 125,000 procedures. The first round of data covered 43,823 primary and revision procedures and reflects about 4.5% of the joint replacements conducted every year in the U.S.

AJRR Collection Statistics for this sample:

Total procedures: 43,823
Hip procedures: 16,665

  • Hip revisions: 1,510

Knee procedures: 27,158

  • Knee revisions: 1,367

Male patients: 17,716
Female patients: 26,107

AJRR collects data from nearly every state and a variety of participating institutions including community hospitals, academic medical centers and large health systems. The report contains procedural data, component metrics, analysis and AJRR accomplishments.
