Sheffield Precision Medical (SPM) designs, manufactures and supplies a comprehensive range of orthopaedic instrumentation to a wide and diverse customer base. The company understands that clinical efficacy, health economics, quality and regulatory requirements are drastically changing the backdrop to the medical devices industry. So they must be compliant as a business and on behalf of their customers, whilst also remaining competitive. Therefore the company is currently undergoing a period of planned growth, through continuous inward investment in both the company’s manufacturing capabilities, services, skills base and a strengthened senior management team.
SPM is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Garner as Business Development Director. With over 35 years experience in the global medical devices industry, Neil’s experience incorporates many disciplines gained through senior management roles within a number of differing businesses, from small privately owned start-ups through to multi-national organisations. He started his medical device career as an orthopaedic product engineer at Downs Surgical (Sheffield) and his last full time role was as Senior Vice-President of Symmetry Medical Europe. He is currently a director of Neo Garner Ltd, a successful medical devices quality and regulatory consultancy company and also chairs the Sheffield City Region LEP Health Technologies Sector Group, of which Sheffield Precision Medical is an active member.
“In a demanding market it is essential that we have in place the necessary facilities, equipment and staff, operating within a quality management system, capable of delivering our customer’s expectations” stated Brian Reece, Managing Director at Sheffield Precision Medical. “Key to delivering these expectations is an individual who understands our customers, the market and our own business needs. Therefore Neil’s career in the medical devices industry ideally places him as the best person to take SPM to the next level”.
“Brian and I have known each other for many years” added Neil “and through our involvement on the Sheffield City Region LEP, it became apparent to both of us that SPM’s current size places it in an ideal position for a period of planned growth, built upon a robust and compliant quality management system, to meet our customer needs, demanding regulatory requirements and the changing global health care market. I am confident my skills and experience will add further value to an already successful business and strong management team”.
