SLM Solutions Names Aaron LaLonde Director of Applications Engineering

SLM Solutions has named Aaron LaLonde as the company’s Director of Applications Engineering. Mr. LaLonde replaces Richard Grylls, who recently departed SLM for a position with Carpenter Technology.

“We are very excited to welcome Aaron LaLonde to the team,” said SLM Solutions President Mark Hoefing in a prepared statement. “With Aaron’s experience and leadership, we are confident that SLM Solutions will continue providing the industry’s best customer support, ensuring that our customers achieve an excellent return on their machine investments.”

Mr. LaLonde will support customer applications, including those in the orthopaedic industry. In his role, he will also work with customers to answer material properties questions, provide test part production, sales technical support, marketing support and corporate R&D.

Mr. LaLonde’s area of expertise is additive manufacturing, and he holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master’s of Science from Washington State University. Prior to joining SLM Solutions, his previous role at BeAM Machines involved machine R&D and establishing a customer solutions center for the U.S. market, in addition to leading additive technology and materials development to meet customer and market needs.

SLM Solutions—based in Germany, with U.S. HQ in Michigan—produces laser machines for metal-based additive manufacturing for customers in the healthcare, aerospace, energy and automotive industries.
