Additive manufactured orthopedic implants

Eurocoating SpA, the medical division of Unitedcoatings Group, announced the acquisition of Nanosurfaces Industries, the Italian manufacturing division of CoorsTek Medical.

“This acquisition brings to Eurocoating additional high-tech manufacturing capabilities and innovative advanced surface treatments, completing its wide array of services and supporting Eurcocoating’s strategy to consolidate its position as a key global partner to the orthopaedic OEMs,” said Nelso Antolotti, President and Founder of the Unitedcoatings Group. “We aim to build a ‘one-stop-shop’ concept in the area of additive manufacturing for the medical industry, which should significantly reduce the supply chain complexity for our customers.

“Nanosurfaces provides us the know-how in the special machining segment that we were looking for to complete this business model to the industry,” Antolotti added.

Eurocoating SpA is a supplier of plasma spray coatings and 3D printing for orthopaedic, spine and trauma applications, serving over 120 OEMs globally. Eurocoating has plants in Italy, U.S. (Surface Dynamics) and China.

It offers design and manufacturing services including machining, finishing, coating and sterile packaging services, providing solutions for both implants and instruments.
