MTD Micro Molding Celebrates 45 Years of Micro Manufacturing

MTD Micro Molding proudly announces its 45th year in the micro manufacturing business.

Richard Tully founded Miniature Tool & Die (now MTD Micro Molding) in 1972, in the basement of his home, as a manufacturer of miniature connector injection molds for the electronics industry — and later miniature molds for medical OEMs. By 2001, MTD began producing highly-complex micro injection molded medical device components, including bioabsorbable molded parts.

Since then, Mr. Tully’s son Dennis assumed ownership of the company. To best serve customers’ needs and accommodate rapidly-developing technology, the company narrowed its business to focus exclusively on medical micro molding. MTD is one of only a few companies to focus 100% on this niche.

Today, MTD’s facility in Charlton, Massachusetts offers cleanroom manufacturing space, in-house tooling, ISO 13485 Certification and leading-edge molding and tooling technology. Stable year-over-year revenue growth supports MTD’s plans for facility expansion in the near future, focusing on the unique needs of bioabsorbable and drug delivery applications.

“MTD has a 45-year tradition of helping customers refine their designs and select the best material for optimal part functionality while maximizing costs,” said Dennis Tully, President of MTD Micro Molding. He added, “I am proud of MTD’s past accomplishments and excited about what the future holds. After all, we spent our first 45 years preparing for the challenges the next 45 years will bring.”
