MedPlast to Acquire Vention Medical's Device Manufacturing Business

MedPlast signed a definitive agreement to acquire Vention Medical's Device Manufacturing Services business within 2Q17.

Vention Medical's Device Manufacturing capabilities include design/development, manufacturing, assembly and packaging, as well as complex components and technologies. Within orthopaedics, the company has served segments of spine surgery, interventional spine and sports medicine.

The acquisition will extend MedPlast's global footprint to 22 manufacturing facilities throughout North and Central America, Asia and Europe and will more than double MedPlast's size. The company will employ more than 3,500 engineers, technicians and assembly workers specializing in producing surgical, orthopaedic, diagnostic and other medical devices.

MedPlast's acquisition follows its partnership with two investment firms to support expansion of offerings. Medplast's OrthoPlastics division, based in the U.K., is a global supplier of UHMWPE to orthopaedic device manufacturers.

In a separate and unrelated transaction, Nordson entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Vention Medical’s Advanced Technologies business that focuses upon minimally invasive interventional delivery devices, catheters and components for the global medical technology market.
