National Science Foundation Funds Nasseo for Nanotube Technology

Nasseo, a provider of surface technologies for orthopaedic and spine applications, was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research Grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support Nasseo’s work on nano-engineered surface coatings for spinal implants.

Nasseo will conduct feasibility studies with a nanotube surface on medical grade PEEK to promote osseointegration of PEEK spinal interbody fusion devices.

Nasseo holds four issued patents on nanotube platform technology. According to the company, over a decade of research has validated its nanotube surface technology and studies have shown enhanced bone cell response and anti-bacterial properties compared with conventional implant surfaces.
