Orchid Announces Appointment of President and Chief Operating Officer, Jerry Jurkiewicz

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions has named Jerry Jurkiewicz as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective April 4, 2016.

As President and COO, a new role for Orchid, Jurkiewicz will report directly to CEO Mike Miller and hold responsibility for managing global operations and directing the executive team. Jurkiewicz has a long and diverse history in manufacturing through a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, Jurkiewicz served as President at IDEX Corporation.

Orchid’s expanding presence in the market and customer demands have created the need for additional bench strength on the executive team. The addition of Jurkiewicz will allow Miller to focus on other initiatives, including business development, acquisitions and customer relations.

Over the last 12 months, Orchid has expanded its global operations by opening or expanding facilities in China, India and Europe. In China, the company is ramping up to offer Vacuum Titanium Plasma Spray coating services at its Suzhou site by the end of 2016. In India, Orchid opened a facility in Pune that will offer precision machined parts and will eventually expand to offer sterile packaging and coating services. The company wants to provide full value stream services to the Asian market. In Europe, Orchid acquired Alhenia, a Switzerland-based provider of coated implants to orthopaedic device manufacturers. The Alhenia acquisition created an integrated supply chain in the EU.
